SUMMER JOB LIST

We are presently looking to fill a number of positions for the Summer 2019 season of Ultimate Teen Challenge aka UTC. Please note that ALL positions offered are contractual, NON union, opened equally to both men and women. ALL positions require availability from Tuesday to Friday morning.

You don’t need a vehicle and car pooling to and back from the ranch is suggested but NOT required as we have a ranch shuttle from Montmorency subway station. There are NO DRUGS ALLOWED on TV casting ranch. Preference will be given to applicants who have perfect written and spoken English.

EXECUTIVE FLOOR MANAGER – EFM (1)
Salary range: $17 to $23/hour
Accommodation: FREE on the ranch
All food and beverages: FREE on the ranch

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The EFM is the right hand person to the Executive Producer at the TV casting ranch. The EFM will handle all aspects of the camp’s operation, from co-ordinating transportation, to communication schedule to staff to handling special food orders to dealing with instructor stage requests/demands and oversee merchandise sales/tracking amongst other things. You MUST be very comfortable using an IPAD, dealing with EXCEL and OUTLOOK forms.. You will work with instructors to best maximize camp usage time taking into account the needs and camp requirements all in a safe and secure manner. You must speak PERFECT English and be in good physical condition to be able to handle a quick pace environment. Preference will be given to applicants who can multi-tasks extremely well. Basic knowledge of the world of production is an asset. Understanding the fundamentals of video-photography is preferred. The EFM must be comfortable tackling WIFI and BLUETOOTH operating principles.

PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR (3)
Salary range: $13 to $19/hour

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The instructor is in charge of 13 campers between the age of 9 and 19 who are there to learn the basics of working a replicated mini Hollywood TV set. You MUST own and be very comfortable using an IPAD. You will assign roles, explain the basics of each set function and guide participants through to the creation of a small video TV trailer/project. You must speak PERFECT English, be in good physical condition, able to handle that age bracket including resolving small assignment issues between campers should they arise. Preference will be given to applicants who have already worked within a camp area, have NO criminal records and have a basic knowledge of the world of production.

Understanding the fundamentals of video-photography is an asset. Instructor MUST be comfortable tackling WIFI and BLUETOOTH operating principle. You must be capable of working 10 to 12 hour days and have solid organisational/planning background skills. You must be a team player with a good sense of humour and an ability to work well under tight deadlines.

SOCIAL MEDIA / BLOG MANAGER – SMBM (1)
Salary range: $13 to $17/hour

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The SMBM handles all things WEB and public perception related. The preferred candidate will have a deep understanding of WORDPRESS, MAILCHIMP and most social media that teens and young adults use. Your responsibilities include daily web updates, chatroom postings, managing the TV casting ranch blog and prepping the video-clip compilations for the ceremony. You must speak PERFECT English, be available at a moment’s notice to deal with site issues as they relate to each camp’s posted material. You must be able to work online, with minimum supervision, sometime in our office for hours without human contact. Preference will be given to applicants who have already worked in the world of social media, press agencies or AD campaign offices. MUST be comfortable tackling WIFI and BLUETOOTH operating principle. Long work days/evening are to be expected however you control your block time as you see fit as long as the work gets done (postings to the web including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc)

CAMP GROUND SECURITY – CGS (2)
Salary range: $13 to $15/hour
Accommodation: FREE on the ranch

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The CGS ensures that all camp participants feel safe while on camp grounds. The CGS is also responsible to ensure that all signage posted throughout the campground is respected. You must speak perfect English, inspire confidence, have received basic training in crowd control and dispersion techniques (preferred but not mandatory). The preferred candidate will be responsible for the monitoring of the tent area at night in addition to ensuring the safekeeping of stored personal property and vehicles on site. Use of two way radios IS A MUST. The CGS must be able to operate effectively on 5 hour sleep/night as you will be on 14 to 17 hour shift days.

COOK (1)
Salary range: $13 to $19/hour

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The cook will co-ordinate all food and beverage advance purchases with the Executive Producer, prepare a working budget, ensure all equipment available on site is suitable to effectively create all menus. In addition, the cook will be ready, at a moments notice, to create last minute ‘a la carte’ requests. You must be comfortable preparing buffet type breakfast and dinners for groups of between 35 and 55 individuals (upto 75 on closing ceremony afternoons). You MUST work very well under pressure, be extremely clean and continuously maintain a spotless kitchen. You should have a basic understanding of the nutritive value of meals prepared to accommodate special requests from camp participants, on occasion. Preference will be given to applicants who are experienced in handling a large BBQ and have NO criminal record.
You must be capable of working 10 to 12 hour days with an ability to work well under tight deadlines.
